Richard leads cloud computing research for IBM’s Institute for Business Value, which delivers data-driven research and expert analysis to business leaders about emerging trends, opportunities and challenges. IBV reports address critical technology and business issues affecting organizations in more than 20 industries around the world.

Richard’s consulting career spans over twenty years of helping Global 1000 clients navigate the intersection of business and technology. His work has focused on business + IT strategy, operating model design and implementation, and large-scale transformation programs. In recent client engagements in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Finland, Mexico, Spain, and the UK, he has led teams focused on portfolio design, agile implementation, value stream design, cloud-native development, devops, software delivery velocity, and transformational culture change.

Before travel demands made it impossible, Richard coached AAU basketball teams and served as the director of a regional “travel” youth basketball organization. He lives in Northern Virginia, outside Washington DC.
